Buhl Regional Health Foundation Awards Grants for the Fall 2019 Cycle

 

Eleven community non-profit agencies received grants Friday, September 27, 2019, totaling $585,833 from the Buhl Regional Health Foundation.

The agencies will use the grants for mental and physical health or health-related programs in the Foundation’s service area.

A brief meeting was held to distribute the grant awards and congratulate the agency leaders and grant writers who worked to request the funds for their organizations.

Agencies, their programs, and grant awards are:

Buhl Community Recreation Center, Program Capacity Building – Youth and Wellness: $250,000 with a five mutli-year pledge totaling $2,000,000

—Children’s Advocacy Center of Lawrence County, Nurse Family Partnership: $66,733

—Community Food Warehouse of Mercer County, Backpack Program: $50,000

—George Junior Republic, Campaign for Healthy Children: $20,000

—Keystone Blind Association, Low Vision Clinic and Healthy Life Skills: $35,000

—Mercer County Coalition for Drug Awareness, Health Alternatives Program: $10,000

—Mercer County Communities That Care, “BREATHE Free” Anti-Vaping/E Cigarette Use: $18,500

—Mercer County Criminal Justice Advisory Board, Crisis Intervention Team: $19,000

PHN Charitable Foundation, Connecting Mercer County – Second Phase: $70,000

As Buhl Regional Health Foundation progresses its funding focus, it will continue to offer a capacity building environment to aid non-profit agencies in the service area in future collaborative grant requests.  The Foundation extends an open invitation to participate in any of its five collaborative community health Action Teams: Transportation, Mental Health, Addiction, Food & Nutrition and Connecting Resources.
